Daily Helping for February 26th, 2021 – Skunk Anansie – Squander

A promotional photo of leader singer Skin from Skunk Anansie looking intently straight into the camera.

Okay, can we all just take a moment to appreciate the gorgeousness that is the voice of Skunk Anansie’s lead singer Skin? Seriously. I know this song is a bit more mellow than my usual “It’s Friday!” dance songs, but I can’t stop listening to this. I mean, the words are heartbreakingly beautiful, the song just builds and builds, and the melody is gorgeous, but THAT VOICE. I can’t get over her voice. She somehow manages to infuse every single word with a thousand different emotions, and a world weariness that feels both authentic and hard earned. It’s stunning.

Skunk Anansie came to me through a recommendation, and I’m so grateful that it was sent in. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go listen to every single song they’ve ever produced…
