Daily Helping for October 10th, 2021 – Cecelia Webber

An image of a work of art by Cecelia Webber. The image shows several human bodies painted in greens, yellows, and oranges, and arranged in the image of a maple leaf.

Does the image above look slightly off? If there something about it that you can’t quite put your finger on? If so, you may be like me, in that I stared at this image for a full twenty minutes before I realized that what I was looking at was a bunch of human bodies arranged into the image of a maple leaf. That’s right. Take a closer look. Those are human bodies. Welcome to the world of Cecelia Webber.

Cecelia Webber is an artist who uses human bodies to create images of nature. I chose the image above because it’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and a maple leaf felt appropriate. But you should absolutely check out the rest of her work. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, and the detailing in some of the images is extraordinary. I especially love the peacock.

A year ago, I would have never have known that art like this exists. But it does, and I will forever be grateful for that.
