Daily Helping for April 19th, 2023 – Shyama Kuver

I loved exploring the work of Cori Lin so much that I decided to do a search for other illustrators. Which is how I discovered the beautiful portfolio of Shyama Kuver. Kuver is an interdisciplinary artist who uses art to explore connectedness, intergenerational trauma, futurism, and transcendence, among other weighty questions. I first came across her work on Instagram, and was immediately taken by the vibrant colours and vivid figures. I then looked through her work on her website, and the image above particularly caught my eye. There is something simultaneously peaceful and defiant about it, and I love it.

I think I’ve officially found my new favourite art medium. Hopefully I will discover many more incredible illustrators over the coming months of this challenge.
