Blue13 is a dance company founded by Achinta S. McDaniel whose mission is summed up by the acronym ABIDE. It stands for Access, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity, and I love it. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience dance, whether onstage or in the audience. I also love how Blue13 uses dance to examine cultural stereotypes, and in many cases, turn those stereotypes on their head.
I watched all of the videos available on Blue13’s website and I loved them all, so I’m not choosing a favourite for today’s daily helping. Instead, I’m featuring Blue13 as a whole, and I’m very much looking forward to when I can see them live onstage.
