Daily Helping for July 17th, 2023 – Snuggle Close Stories – King Tissa’s Mango Riddle

It’s a new week, and to start things off right, I have a wonderful video from Snuggle Close Stories. Snuggle Close Stories was created by Gaya Arasaratnam, who narrates traditional stories from Sri Lanka as bedtime tales. This particular video tells the story of King Tissa as he answers a series of riddles posed to him by a monk. The King’s answers lead the monk to issue the very first Buddhist sermon in Sri Lanka, which in turn leads King Tissa to establish Mihintale, the world’s first wildlife sanctuary.

I loved listening to this video, mostly because Arasaratnam’s voice is so rich and soothing as she narrates the story. What a lovely and calming way to start the week. I should also note that Sri Lanka just shot to the top of my to-visit list. I swear this list gets longer with each passing week.

Happy Monday all!
