Daily Helping for December 7th, 2020 – Raul Paz – Mua Mua Mua

A close up photo of Raul Paz singing into a microphone.

It’s a Monday, which means I need something upbeat to start the week. Today’s helping came from a recommendation, and it fits the bill perfectly. Raul Paz is a Cuban singer who is considered to be one of the pioneers of the Cuban new wave of music in the past 20 years. He also apparently used to live just down the street from me in Paris, which is a coincidence I was delighted to discover after listening to this song. It truly is a small world sometimes!

One thing to note, I don’t speak Spanish, so I have no idea what this song is about. But it’s upbeat and catchy, and I know I will definitely be humming it for the rest of the day. I might even bust out a couple of dance moves while doing the dishes. They won’t be pretty, but the beat is just that infectious. Overall, it’s a great way to start the week, even if I don’t know what I’m singing along to. I actually tried to put “Mua Mua Mua” through Google Translate, but no luck. If anyone can enlighten me as to what it means, please do so. Otherwise, I hope you dance your way through any Monday blues you may have.
