Daily Helping for June 3rd, 2021 – Natalie Diaz – No More Cake Here

No More Cake Here” is a beautiful poem filled with gorgeous imagery and vivid characters. It is a beautiful poem, but it is also painful. The final stanza reveals the truth of the story; what it’s really saying about the often complicated relationships we have with those we are supposed to love. I don’t know if this poem is a personal story for the poet Natalie Diaz, or whether it’s fiction. But either way, she has a beautiful way with words.

I’ve read this poem multiple times now, and every time it hits in a different way. But every time, it’s beautiful.
