Today is Bastille Day in France, or la fĂȘte nationale if you are French. And therefore I found it incredibly appropriate that I happened upon “The Death of Marat” by Michiko Wild today of all days. This piece is inspired by the famous painting by Jacques-Louis David depicting the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat, one of the early leaders of the French Revolution. The David painting is now considered iconic, but personally I prefer Wild’s version. It’s vibrant and bold, and perfect for the scene it’s representing.
Bonne FĂȘte Nationale everyone!
