Daily Helping for February 1st, 2023 – Living

I’ve often said that there’s nothing I love more in a story than two characters sitting in a room talking to each other. My friends often tell me that there’s nothing I love to write about more than bureaucracy. Both of these are true, so it should come as no surprise that I loved the film Living. It’s a moving and deeply felt character study about a bureaucrat who decides to try and change his life for the better at the 11th hour. I will admit that Living may have veered into the overdramatic once or twice near the end. But overall this is an astonishingly beautiful film with an extraordinary performance by Bill Nighy at its centre. Highly recommend!
