I recently paid a visit to the Musée Guimet to see their exhibition on the art of Utagawa Hiroshige. Unfortunately, I’ve previously featured Hiroshige in another Daily Hart, so as per the rules, none of his pieces in this exhibition counted for today’s daily helping. Thankfully, the exhibition included many other artists who were contemporaries of Hiroshige, which is how I landed on the piece above by Kitagawa Utamaro. There’s something about this scene that is just delightful to me. It might have something to do with having the time to while away an afternoon chasing fireflies. One can dream…
