Daily Helping for April 13th, 2021 – In This Shirt – Kate Jablonski

A photo still of Kate Jablonski and the company of Beyond Words mid-performance of their piece "In This Shirt". About a dozen dances in beige costumes are on their knees onstage with their hands raised in the air.

YouTube keeps sending me gorgeous dance pieces, and all I can say is “Bring it on!” Today’s helping is a number called “In This Shirt“, choreographed by Kate Jablonski and performed by the Beyond Words Dance Company. And that truly is an appropriate name, because this performance is in many ways beyond words. It’s a problem I’ve been having a lot lately as I feature more and more dance pieces. There’s really only so many ways I can say something is stunningly beautiful, and yet here we are again. Another performance that is stunningly beautiful.

I will say that what I loved in particular with this one was the level of synchronization of the dancers. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I used to be a synchronized swimmer, so I am well versed in how difficult this level of synchronization is to pull of. But these dancers do it beautifully, and I was riveted from beginning to end. I may be running out of words, but I don’t see this dance phase ending any time soon. I think it just may be time to dig out the thesaurus.
