Apparently I completely missed this viral set of videos over the past year. Although, I should say, that’s really not all that surprising. I’m rarely up to date when it comes to what is happening online or the latest viral sensation. But I do wish I had found these videos earlier, as they would have provided some much needed moments of levity over the past year. But better late than never I suppose! So with that in mind, I present to you the time travelling adventures of comedian Julie Nolke.
I actually came across this video first, which is the most recent entry of the series. But I highly recommend going back and watching them in order. You can find part one here, part two here, part three here, and part four here. When taken together, they really do provide a snapshot of the magnitude of what the world has been through this past year, and how utterly ridiculous it would all sound if we were to try and explain it to our past selves. Julie Nolke also manages to perfectly balance the absurdity with the poignant, and the ever growing sense of weariness as the videos progress is certainly a mood.
I truly hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and today’s helping is the last entry in this series. And if not, well, at the very least, I now know where to go when I need some laughs.
