I am an immigrant. And while I am a Western immigrant to a Western country, I am still an immigrant in a country with a different language and a very different culture. Meaning even after nine years, I’m still finding myself slightly out of step with the locals on a near daily basis. This is why I was so intrigued by the title of this digital short. Immigrant Explains Difficulty Assimilating To Culture That Constantly Reboots Film Franchises. Needless to say, I laughed myself silly throughout this whole video. Sure, may be a commentary on the immigrant experience that was very relatable for me. But it’s also a much more pointed commentary on the ridiculousness of Hollywood’s obsession with franchises. I love it all.
