Daily Helping for March 19th, 2021 – Art with Flo – Japanese City at Night

A picture of the painting Japanese City at Night by Flo.

I love visual art. I love paintings and sculptures and all the many other forms that visual art can take. But as much as I love visual art, I am absolutely useless when it comes to creating it. I am the person who struggles to draw stick people, so I’m always in awe of what other people can create out of a blank canvas. Case in point, Japanese City at Night by YouTuber Art with Flo.

For some reason, I had a craving to watch a painting being created, and was absolutely delighted when I discovered Art with Flo. There’s something about this video that is simultaneously soothing and riveting, and I loved it. I loved watching the painting come to life, and I equally loved hearing the explanation of how/why everything was being created. In particular, it was simply extraordinary to watch the amount of detail and work that goes into an image like this. Obviously, I know that artworks don’t just spring into being. But it’s one thing to know something, and something else entirely to watch it unfold before your eyes. And I loved it. Now that we’re back in lockdown, I might just have to take up drawing…
