Daily Helping for July 15th, 2021 – Flamenco

A photo of a poster for a Flamenco performance with a woman wearing an orange flamenco dress.

I’ve been waiting for this day for months and now it’s finally here! I finally got to see dance! IN PERSON!!! And it was glorious!!!!

Theatres and performance venues are now open in Paris, and so when a friend asked if I wanted to go to a Flamenco show, I immediately said yes. I had been to a Flamenco show once before, many years ago in Spain, but we arrived late and had a terrible view. This time, however, my friend and I were front and centre. And it was incredible.

There were three acts altogether, each with their own dancers and musicians, and I don’t think there are enough adjectives in the English language to describe how amazing the show was. All of the performers were incredible. The dancers were extraordinary. The musicians were spectacular. And the power of the singers’ voices was stunning.

But even more than all that, it was just simply incredible to be back in a theatre, watching performers live in front of me. The atmosphere in the air was electric, so I know others must have felt the same way. When the show was over, three(!) hours later, I practically floated out of the theatre I was so happy.

I don’t know how long performance spaces will stay open this time. But I know I’m going to soak up as much theatre and dance as I can while they still are.
