Daily Helping for January 4th, 2023 – Aravani Art Project – Que Spaces

The Aravani Art Project is an incredible art collective based out of India. It is run by transgender and cis-gender women, and its purpose is to create safe spaces for LGBTQ artists to express themselves. It also works to raise awareness about the discrimination the queer community faces, and helps marginalized voices reclaim their space in the world. So basically I love everything about this.

Their projects are often collaborations between various community groups, and their portfolio is extensive. I spent a long time looking through the various photo galleries of the work the Aravani Art Project has created over the years, and there was a lot to love. However, I was particularly drawn to a project called Que Spaces. Unfortunately, I can’t really articulate why. There’s just something about these murals that makes me smile. Que Spaces was created for a co-working space, and I wish it was my workspace. I’d love to be greeted by these images every day when I come into work.
